Northeast Shrine Association Field Days set for Sept. 14-15 in Bangor

The 2012 Northeast Shrine Association Field Days will feature several events open to the public.

A Clown-A-Rama hosted by the Anah Shrine Clown Unit. This event will take place at the Bangor Mall Center Court from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Friday, Sept. 14. Admission is free.

• 10-10:30 a.m.: Single and Multiple Balloon Competition;

• 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Makeup and Costume Competition. Categories are Whiteface, Auguste, Tramp/Hobo, Character, and People’s Choice Award;

• 12:30-1 p.m.: Lunchtime;

• 1-3 p.m.: Skit Competition. Categories are one-clown skit, two-clown skit, and three-clown skit.

The Shrine Marketplace will be held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Sept. 14 at the Bangor Elks Lodge, 108 Odlin Road, Bangor. Admission is free.

The Anah Highlanders Pipes & Drums will host the 2012 NESA Anah Highlanders Ceilidh at 7 p.m., Sept. 14 at Peakes Auditorium, Bangor High School, 885 Broadway, Bangor. Admission is $15 per adult and $5 per child under age 12.

The event will feature performances by the Anah Highlanders, Emily Smaha & Maine Scottish Dancers, the Searson Band, and Tom Seymour playing the Uilleann pipes. Door prizes and a 50/50 raffle will be of-fered.

Shrine motor units will compete from 6 a.m.-12 noon, Sept. 15 at Freedom Industrial Park, Route 2, Hermon. Admission is free.

The Shrine Marketplace will be held from 9 a.m.-12 noon, Sept. 15 at the Bangor Elks Lodge, 108 Odlin Road, Bangor. Admission is free.

The Anah Highlanders will sponsor a competition and concert at 12 noon, Sept. 15 at Pickering Square in downtown Bangor.

The Northeast Shrine Association Field Days will feature a parade through downtown Bangor on Satur-day, Sept. 15. The parade route (see map) will follow Exchange Street to State Street, then turn left on Main Street and then right on Buck Street before ending at Bass Park.

Parade units will step off at 2 p.m. on Exchange Street.
