BERWICK, Maine — A 55-year-old employee of a Berwick concrete plant died Friday morning after he was struck by a concrete truck at his workplace.

The name of the man who died and the driver of the truck were being withheld late Friday afternoon, however, Berwick police said the victim was an employee of Seacoast Redi Mix, located at 541 Portland St.

Berwick police Capt. Jerry Locke said the accident happened shortly after 10 a.m., when the man was struck in the plant’s driveway.

Despite attempts by police and rescue personnel to revive the victim, he died at the accident scene, Locke said. The incident was witnessed by other plant employees, he said.

The accident remains under investigation by Detective William Russell and Patrolman Milton Fogg of the Berwick Police Department and Kathryn Simmons of the federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration.
