WATERVILLE, Maine — A Waterville man wound up with a bloody hand and a criminal mischief charge after he drunkenly punched out a cafe window on Saturday, according to police.
Derek Owens, 27, was walking alone on Main Street late Saturday night when he smashed a window at Jorgensen’s Cafe, according to Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey.
Owens never entered the establishment after breaking the window, Rumsey said.
A bloodied Owens walked along Temple Street after breaking the window, and witnesses pointed him out to Waterville police Officer Andrew McMullen.
When McMullen located Owens, the suspect’s right hand was covered in blood and he had several cuts on his hand and the back of his arm, Rumsey said.
Owens was taken to Thayer Hospital for treatment and then arrested and charged with criminal mischief, Rumsey said. He was booked into the Kennebec County Jail on $500 bail.
