Bangor police: Nothing suspicious about two bodies found Thursday

By Andrew Neff, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — Two dead bodies reported within two hours of each other generated attention Thursday afternoon, but Bangor police officers say there is nothing suspicious about either death.

“I believe they were both attended, and not unattended deaths, and there’s nothing really to report about them, except that both were investigated and there’s nothing suspicious with either of them,” said Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards Saturday afternoon.

Details concerning both deaths were sparse on Friday.

The first dead person, a 51-year-old man, was reported about 3:45 p.m. at an apartment near downtown. No details at all were released initially about the body reported at 5:32 p.m., but that death involved a 50-year-old man.

Edwards said it hadn’t been determined by Saturday afternoon whether either death would require a medical examiner autopsy.

The fact that detectives were handling both cases didn’t necessarily mean that either death was suspicious. It’s a matter of police protocol, according to Edwards.
