Fire destroys Eastport house

By Tom Walsh, BDN Staff

EASTPORT, Maine — Fire destroyed a vacant two-story house in Eastport early Tuesday morning.

Eastport Fire Chief Richard Clark said the structure at 3 Middle St. was fully engulfed when firefighters from Eastport and Perry responded to a 3:45 a.m. alarm. Firefighters were on the scene for about two hours. Clark said there were no injuries.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, Clark said. State fire marshal’s office investigators are expected to examine the scene later this week.

The owner of the house, Clark said, lives in Massachusetts.
