TOWNSHIP 17 RANGE 4, Maine — A husband and wife are dead after the motorcycle they were riding struck a car in an area of Aroostook County known as Cross Lake.

Maine State Police Sgt. Brian Harris said Sunday afternoon that the accident that claimed the lives of Allen Rossignol, 52, of Woodland and his wife, 50-year-old Judy Rossignol, took place just after noon.

According to Harris, Allen Rossignol was northbound on Route 161 on his 2012 Victory motorcycle with his wife on the back. Stephanie Dumais, 42, of Mapleton was southbound on the roadway in her 2007 Hyundai car. Rossignol reportedly drifted into the southbound lane, into Dumais’ path, and the vehicles collided head-on. Both riders were thrown from the motorcycle.

The Rossignols both were wearing helmets. Their motorcycle was demolished in the crash.

Dumais was taken by Caribou Ambulance to Cary Medical Center in Caribou for treatment of a cut to her leg.

Dumais had been wearing a seat belt. Her vehicle also was totaled in the crash.

Harris and Trooper Todd Stetson were assisted at the accident scene by the Maine Warden Service, Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department and North Lakes Fire and Rescue.
