Comments for: One dead, State Route 3 closed after head-on crash in Ellsworth

Guidelines for posting on bangordailynews.com

The Bangor Daily News and the Bangor Publishing Co. encourage comments about stories, but you must follow our terms of service.

  1. Keep it civil and stay on topic
  2. No vulgarity, racial slurs, name-calling or personal attacks.
  3. People who harass others or joke about tragedies will be blocked.
The primary rule here is pretty simple: Treat others with the same respect you'd want for yourself. Here are some guidelines (see more):

  • Edit: One more time…..

This is a road I travel often and most people drive about 65mph on the road, the posted limit is 55 and if you are doing 55mph you are going to get passed. I normally do right around 65 myself but I’ve been passed even at that speed.

I hate to speculate if the driver was attempting to pass, was texting, was tired or had some sort of medical issue. The truth will come out after the investigation.

Sadly this most likely will not be the only traffic death in Maine this coming weekend as a lot of people are traveling for the 4th.

What is up with all these deaths in Maine since Memorial Day? I keep thinking I’ve logged on to the Baltimore Sun, where “If it bleeds, it leads.”

     Chevy S10 ????

looks like the hubcap on the truck says GMC, and the style name on the side is much longer then S10. The writer of the article and I must be looking at a different truck.

1st off I want to say how horrible it is that a life was lost and I hope the grandparents and grandaughter make a quick recovery!!

I thought it was a GMC 1500 or a chevy silverado, the drivers side door is usually where it says silverado, theres a decal of some sort on the door  but who knows. Definately not an S10 its way too big, must just be an error.

I think your missing the point of the story.  Drive safe.

    Chevy S-10??? Then why is the picture a GMC 2500HD ???? …………………….

      • Anonymous

Yea, I know there was an S10 in the accident, but its not the vehicle they mentioned it as.

        • I know the article does not match the truth. I did send off an e-mail asking him to correct it.

        Thanks,Kevin…

  • thats a mighty big camper for an s-10 to be towing!

  • It was a Chevy s10 that crossed into the path of the full size truck not a car. Wabi’s website has a video that shows the s-10. BDN needs to do an edit job again

the video is horrible! it looks like a woman was dead in the S-10. Sad if her family happen to be watching the 6 p.m. news when that story aired!

      • The video shows nothing of the wreck. They have a picture up of the S-10, not a video.

acually as of midnight there is a video

          • And 2 hours ago a video was not.

            wabi.tv.com has a video

The only dead person here was a young man who I knew.

    • They have a picture of the S-10, not a video of it.

The truck is a 3/4 ton heavy duty crew cab.  I own one and that is undoubtedly what saved the families lives…..  Gas guzzlers save lives.

I guess some some people like their news to be accurate–silly people.

    • Michael P Mccann

Since when is any news site 100% accurate anyway? the bdn doesn’t have the best track record for accurcy but i can think of far worse

  • Edit: It went bye bye.

It sounds like you are the one full of yourself.

that looked more like a chevy 2500 HD not an S10

  • You’re a fool.

I agree about the above poster but you are being pretty callous yourself

    • Michael P Mccann

It does not matter how this occurred, people are still grieving this person. You said……..   “””I refuse to pass on condolences for anyone involved in accidents until after the investigation because a lot of the time, they don’t deserve it.””””” …………Now tell me who does not deserve it??  Just because someone dies and you do not know “how” does not mean you have to act a fool about it. Condolences are not given to the dead, they are given to the ones left behind, the ones who had no control over how their love one died.

I would like to offer my condolences  to the family, may your memories comfort you in the times ahead.

It does matter how this occurred because it was likely avoidable.
