PITTSFIELD – Emily M. Noble, 83, died peacefully Tuesday, June 26, 2012, in Pittsfield. She was born May 27, 1929, in Newport, the daughter of Ray and Florence (Locke) Blackden.
She attended Hartland schools and graduated from Hartland Academy with the class of 1947. She married Dexter Noble May 2, 1948, and together they raised their family. Emily’s life’s work was taking care of her family. In addition to being a wife and mother, she had been employed at Northeast Shoe, Pittsfield. She enjoyed knitting mittens for her children, grandchildren and for any that were in need. She loved to read and her children have fond memories of her reading aloud every night to their dad before going to sleep.
She is survived by her children, Charles Noble and wife, Rebecca, of Palmyra, George Noble and wife, Faye, of Monroe, Jennie Hart of Pittsfield, Stacey Redmond of Dexter and Alexandria, Va., and Bert Noble of Pittsfield; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Dexter Noble; son, Dennis Noble; three grandsons, Shawn, Brandon and Todd; two brothers, Frank Blackden and Merle Blackden; and sister, Shirley Syphers.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 1, at Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield, with the Rev. Scott Jones officiating, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
