Comments for: Federal funding for Maine’s Amtrak service, Portland-area buses riding on success of highway bill

“I hear the train a-comin’!” OOPS, my mistake- the federally funded train only goes as far as “Northern Boston”. I guess the name “Downeaster” is a misnomer. My tax dollars at work.

Many more of your tax dollars go toward supporting the ubiquitous car culture.
Public transportation is almost always a sound investment.

Even way back when they had passenger trains they only went to north station so this is nothing new .  those trains would go from  Boston To  Bangor in 6  1/2 hrs. an that was a steam train

I’m all for public trans, don’t get me wrong. I’d love to take the trolley to Calais, but it’d be a long-g-g-g- wait for the bus here in Baileyville. Any negativity was directed more to the focus of funding to Southern Maine (Northern Boston).Again, the buck stops there.

I guess I’m confused as to why it’s an argument to say that Downeaster isn’t profitable. So? Do we see profits on the trillions we funnel into Defense spending? This is chump change compared to that and at least we’re investing in ourselves.

Profits from defense spending?  No.  But having our language English instead of German, Russian, or Japanese?  Priceless!

Oh, good lord. Yeah, our yearly trillion~ is all being spent to avoid invasion.
        Come on.
