New Sharon man charged with attempting to flee police

By Ann Bryant, Sun Journal

FARMINGTON, Maine — Police say a New Sharon man was charged with refusing to submit to arrest Monday night after he tried to run from them.

When Matthew Kerr, 21, realized police were about to arrest him, he ran but didn’t get far before he fell and was taken into custody, Deputy Chief Shane Cote of Farmington Police Department said Tuesday.

Police were called to Farmington Court about 9:15 p.m. Monday to check on a report of a vicious person, Cote said. They found Kerr, who was intoxicated. Cote said he has a relative living in the senior housing complex on Middle Street.

Kerr was arrested by Sgt. Michael Adcock and remained at Franklin County Detention Center on Tuesday on a probation hold.
