BREWER – Ailine H. Simon went to be with the Lord June 18, 2012. She was at her daughter’s home when she made her final journey. Ailine was born Oct. 14, 1929, in Rockland, the daughter of Arvo and Helen Fonsell. She always cherished a birthday card acknowledgment from President Eisenhower because they shared the same month and day.

Ailine had survived a life threatening illness in September 2007, which left her completely bedridden 24/7. Because her daughter, Nancy, did not want her to languish her remaining years in a nursing home, Nancy brought her home in February 2008. Nancy was her constant and primary care giver during these past years.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy J. Bell of Brewer; cousin, Joanne C. Hill of Dedham; and other distant relatives in Maine and Finland.

A celebration in honor of Ailine will be held 9 a.m.-noon June 25 at the Community Center located at Brewer Housing Authority. Refreshments will be served.
