Annual Mutt Walk to benefit midcoast animal shelter

ROCKPORT — The fifth annual Camden-Rockport Animal Rescue League Mutt Walk will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, rain or shine. Registration begins at the shelter at 9:30 a.m. Registration and pledge forms may be downloaded at pawsadoption.org or picked up in advance at the shelter, at local veterinarian’s offices and at Loyal Biscuit stores.

The walk begins at the shelter at 146 Camden St. in Rockport, goes to downtown Camden and returns to the shelter. Participants are encouraged to secure individual donations to sponsor their walk and to raise funds for the shelter. The person or pack raising the most money will win a prize.

Prizes will be awarded for biggest dog, smallest dog, longest and shortest tails and top dog — the dog that raises the most pledges. Loyal Biscuit Co. has provided the prizes for the winners in all categories. Awards for fastest time by an adult and a child, and adult and child “packs,” most creative name and costume for the pack also will be given. One of the prizes is a ticket to the Maine Boats, Homes and Harbors Show and a dog leash donated by the magazine and the show.

After the walk, drinks, hot dogs, popcorn and chips will be available to walkers at the shelter. Mobile Ice will be on hand selling flavored ices and donating a portion of the proceeds to the shelter.

Information from groomers, trainers, dog walkers and veterinarians will be available and Loyal Biscuit Co. will host a booth.
