Woman accused of assaulting Saco police officer

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

SACO, Maine — A routine check of the parking lot of the Amtrak station parking lot led to the arrest of a woman, according to police.

Deputy Chief Jeff Holland said police were keeping an eye on vehicles parked at the station around 10 p.m. Wednesday when Saco police Officer Matt Yeaton recognized Chris Gadway, 26, who was walking suspiciously in the lot, according to Holland.

Yeaton made contact with Gadway and when it was confirmed that her bail conditions subjected her to random searches, she was searched and a pocket knife was found in her possession, according to Holland.

When Yeaton attempted to take her into custody, Gadway refused to cooperate, kicking him, Holland said.

Gadway was arrested and charged with assault, refusing to submit to arrest and violating conditions of release.

Gadway was taken to York County Jail, where she remained Friday.
