EASTON, Maine — The principal of Easton Junior Senior High School, Georgette Ireland, is pleased to announce the honor parts for the graduation ceremonies of the Class of 2012. The graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, June 8.
Holden Turner, son of Hugh Turner and Lynda Foren-Turner, has been named valedictorian of his class. He will attend the University of Maine to study mechanical engineering.
He has been a member of the National Honor Society and has served as the Northern Maine Regional NHS president. He has been the president of his class for four years and a member of the Student Council and Varsity Club. He also has enjoyed participating in Math Team, French Club as a treasurer, Key Club as a vice president, and band.
Turner was a member of the soccer and basketball teams and is the newest member of the 50-goal club. He also holds the school record in soccer goals with 73. Turner has been captain of both teams and has participated in All Aroostook. He was a member of the volleyball team, served as captain and participated as an Aroostook Tournament All Star. He has also excelled in One Act Play, Senior Play and Junior Exhibition.
Jonah Bacon, son of Randy and Paula Bacon, has been named salutatorian of his class. He will begin training as a pilot at the United States Air Force Academy.
Bacon has been a member of the basketball, soccer and volleyball teams for all four years. He was the second-place speaker at Junior Exhibition and has been a member of the casts for One Act play all four years and Senior Play for three years.
As a member of the student council, Bacon has served as the treasurer, and as a member of National Honor Society, he has served as the local treasurer and the State President. He has been involved in Math Team, Band, Varsity Club and the Eastonia yearbook staff.
Meghan Frank, daughter of Richard and Pamela Frank, has been named first honor essayist. She will attend Husson University to study pharmacy.
She has been an active member of Band, All Aroostook Band, Chorus, All Aroostook Chorus, Jazz Choir, One Act Play and Senior Play. She was a member of the soccer team and was a captain.
Frank also participated in cheering, volleyball, Varsity Club, Math Team and Junior Exhibition and was on the yearbook staff. She served as a secretary for French Club, chapter president for National Honor Society and regional secretary/treasurer. She also has been a secretary and president for Key Club.
Ariana Babineau, daughter of Skip and Lynn Babineau, has been named second honor essayist. She will attend the University of Maine in the fall, where she will study earth science.
She has been a member of the Varsity Club and French Club and served as the vice president for both of these clubs during her senior year. She has been the class vice president for all four years of high school and was the Maine Northern Region National Honor Society Vice President this year.
Babineau has participated in soccer, All Aroostook, volleyball, All Star team, One Act Play, Senior Play, Math Team, Envirothon and Junior Exhibition and was on the Eastonia yearbook staff.
