Warren fills school board vacancy

By Stephen Betts, BDN Staff

WARREN, Maine — Selectmen have appointed a former select board chairman to fill a school board vacancy.

Selectmen voted Wednesday night to appoint Wayne Luce to represent Warren on the School Administrative District 40 Board. He will begin his term July 1 when current board member Bonnie Davis Micue’s term expires.

Micue, the chairwoman of the school board, did not seek re-election and there were no candidates at the Warren town meeting in March for the position.

Luce was chairman of the selectmen last year. He had approached the town about serving in the school post. His appointment runs through June 2013 and will be up for a vote at the March 2013 town meeting.

Warren has four representatives on the 16-member SAD 40 board that also covers Waldoboro, Union, Friendship and Washington.
