BANGOR, Maine — A 16-year-old girl from Orrington was caught shoplifting from five different Bangor Mall stores on Saturday night and was charged with theft, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Sunday.

An employee of Spencer’s Gifts called police at around 7:45 p.m after seeing the girl put a stainless steel flask into her purse, the sergeant said.

“She had a bunch of stuff from different stores on her” when searched for the flask, Edwards said. “In her purse, he found stuff from Macy’s, Charlotte Russe, [Patrick’s] Hallmark and Bath & Body Works. She made the rounds.”

The flask was valued at $10, and the rest of the items together totaled around $100, Edwards said.

The teenager was charged with theft and later was released to her parents.

Two teenage girls, from Greenville and Milford, also were charged with theft in a separate juvenile shoplifting incident that happened on Friday, Sgt. Garry Higgins said Saturday.

The girls, one age 17 and the other 15, were caught after they attempted to leave Walmart at around 2:50 p.m. without paying for $32 in cosmetics, the sergeant said. Both were charged with theft and “their parents came and got them,” Higgins said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
