LEWISTON, Maine — Police in Lewiston continue to investigate a multiple stabbing that occurred early Sunday morning, sending three men to the hospital with injuries.
Lewiston police Lt. Marc Robitaille said the incident occurred at 2 a.m. at an apartment building located at 127 Howe St. He said several people initially called 911 to report a fight involving between 15 and 20 people in the area around 119 Howe St.
Three men were stabbed during the course of the melee. Two of the three victims — a 25-year-old Livermore Falls man and a 22-year-old Lewiston man — were treated at Central Maine Medical Center and released. A third victim — a 21-year-old man from Lewiston — was listed in stable-good condition Sunday evening at CMMC.
Robitaille said one man arrested at the scene on an outstanding warrant for an unrelated charge is considered a person of interest by police. Tyrone Q. Howell, 29, whose last known address is listed as 67 Mallard Lane, Winthrop, was charged with a warrant for operating after suspension. He remained at the Androscoggin County Jail on Sunday awaiting arraignment.
Details as to exactly where and why the fight started remained under investigation Sunday evening, Robitaille said, adding that police were still in the process of interviewing witnesses.
Robitaille also declined to release specific details as to the nature of the victims’ injuries.
