Comments for: Maine job market may be thawing, say human resource experts

I guess people over 45 better apply for low paying jobs at Walmart because this article makes it clear they’re not in demand…educational level notwithstanding.

Whoa! Let’s not discount the employment opportunities at America’s largest under employer. No need. They have already discounted the job for you. That is why working for those skin flints is such a great opportunity. When you work for less than half the federal poverty level, you are eligible for every government handout there is. Food stamps, LLIHEAP, MaineCare, etc.. you would have to make $20 an hour to afford all this on your own. All one needs to do is swallow your pride and go grovel for government cheese when you GET OUT OF WORK! lol.

        So very true.

I agree.  Many private businesses are supplemented by government largesse because they hire for 32 hours or less, thereby bypassing benefits.  I remember reading somewhere that when Gov. LePage was running for office it was pointed out that 139 of his employees were elligible for food stamps!  That amounts to  this:  we, the tax payers, were supplimenting his business because he wasn’t paying his employees a living wage.

Yup I agree, summer is around the corner and restaurants and tourist traps will open for their 4 month season and hire. The owners are coming up from Florida as I write. They are going to need a lot of hamburger flippers, pizza makers and waitresses. All jobs paying slave labor wages with no benefits. The kind of job that half the money you earn goes to gasoline to get to the restaurant or store. Just another great year in Maine for the working poor.

Love it or leave it…..love it or leave it

you can look at it as just another year of “slave labor” or you could look at it as an opportunity to meet some new people and prove your merit in the world…..have fun “working” to remain poor!
