Two women face theft charges in connection with Bangor Mall shoplifting spree

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — An Exeter woman earned two summonses for theft Monday while a Bangor woman also faces a theft charge after a shoplifting spree at the Bangor Mall, police said Tuesday.

Jocelyn Toribio, 19, of Exeter and Jasmine Small, 20, of Bangor are facing charges, according to Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards.

Edwards said the spree began at Macy’s department store, where Toribio allegedly took a tank top valued at $29, and continued as the pair, along with a third woman who was not charged, went to Sears and took $208 worth of merchandise.

The sergeant said Toribio and Small were taking accessories from Sears, going into fitting rooms and concealing the items in backpacks.

Police learned of Toribio’s Macy’s heist when they interviewed her at Sears. Edwards did not release the name of the other woman who was with Toribio and Small because she was not charged, only that she received a warning for trespassing.

Toribio and Small were not arrested, the sergeant said.
