Man with history of domestic violence arrested again

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — A man who has been arrested for domestic violence before is behind bars on the same charge, according to police.

Stephen Kuchinski, 51, of Bangor, allegedly slapped his girlfriend in the face during what Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards called a heated argument on Monday afternoon.

Kuchinski and the woman had been living together on Spring Street, the sergeant said, and when the argument grew heated, the woman called police just after 5 p.m. Monday.

Kuchinski was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault, a Class C felony. The woman did not require medical treatment.

Kuchinski was taken to the Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Tuesday morning. He faces up to 10 years in jail if convicted of the domestic violence assault charge.

In addition to his prior arrest for domestic violence, Kuchinski also has charges of operating while his license was suspended in 2011, according to Bangor Daily News archives.
