Expect delays on turnpike overnight Monday and Tuesday

The Associated Press

FALMOUTH, Maine — Drivers on the Maine Turnpike can expect long delays in Falmouth for bridge work during the overnight hours Monday and Tuesday.

Turnpike officials say motorists will encounter intermittent 25-minute traffic stops in both directions on the turnpike between 10 p.m. Monday and 5 a.m. Tuesday, and again from 10 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday.

The traffic stops at the turnpike’s mile marker 52 will accommodate the erection of new steel beams for a bridge over the turnpike at the West Falmouth interchange.

Turnpike officials say motorists should be prepared for long delays or find alternate travel routes.
