The Associated Press

AUGUSTA, Maine — French music will be playing and French food will be on the menu as Maine’s Franco-American community is recognized during the state’s 11th annual Franco-American Day.

Festivities at the state capitol Wednesday include French music being performed in the halls of the State House, a Franco-American breakfast menu in the cafeteria and historical and cultural displays from Franco-American organizations.

Presentations are scheduled by Franco-American veterans from Lewiston and dignitaries from France and Canada. There will also be a press conference to announce this year’s inductees into the Maine Franco-American Hall of Fame.

The festivities are scheduled during International Francophone Week, which is being celebrated worldwide this week.
