Police investigating Waldo County burglaries

BELFAST, Maine — Police are investigating two residential burglaries that were reported Sunday evening in the towns of Knox and Jackson.

Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said someone apparently had pried open the back door to a home on Village Road in Jackson and stole items including prescription medications, a guitar and a DeWalt power drill.

Other items missing after the break-in, which police investigated late Sunday night, included cigarettes, tools, a Toshiba laptop computer and a case with 100 movies.

Earlier in the evening, police responded to a call from a home on Belfast Ridge Road in Knox. The residents had been gone for a couple of weeks, and when they came back they saw burglars had apparently gained entrance to the home through the garage door, which was missing a padlock.

In this instance, the thieves cut out copper wire and copper piping from the home.
