SULLIVAN, Maine — A Hancock County man was injured Sunday while riding with a group racing ATVs on a frozen pond.
The man was among several people riding ATVs equipped with spiked tires who were racing around an ice track laid out on Flanders Pond in Sullivan. Game Warden Dave Simmons said that sometime before noon Sunday, the man, whom he identified only as a 26-year-old resident of Hancock, lost control of his ATV and slid into a parked truck.
The rider appears to have suffered a broken leg in the crash. He was taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth for treatment.
