ROCKLAND, Maine — The Rockland City Council has made an offer of employment to a candidate for city manager but has yet to identify the individual.

Rockland Mayor Brian Harden said the council agreed on its choice during a meeting Wednesday night, Feb. 22. The consulting firm of Eaton Peabody that has been working with the city was at the meeting and was requested to contact the person and negotiate final terms before an announcement and formal vote are taken, the mayor said.

Thirty-four people applied for the job that was vacated Oct. 3 by Rosemary Kulow, who resigned to become town manager of Poland. Seven candidates were interviewed in the first round, and two were brought back for second interviews.

Finance Director Tom Luttrell has served as interim manager for the past four months.
