Outlook: The Black Bears need to break out of a funk that has led to a four-game losing streak. UMaine lost at Harford on Wednesday. The Red Foxes have been coming on of late, winning three of their last four including Wednesday’s 72-54 victory over Loyola (Md.). However, they have let opponents shoot 47 percent. Marist, which lost to America East members Vermont and New Hampshire but beat Hartford in 2 overtimes, is 1-12 on the road. The Red Foxes shoot a lot of 3s but are adept at getting to the foul line, where they’re shooting 73 percent.

MAINE vs. VERMONT

Time, site: 1 p.m. Sunday, Patrick Gym, Burlington, Vt.

Records: Maine 6-20 (4-10 America East), Vermont 9-18 (3-11)

Series, last meeting: Maine leads 48-31, Maine 70-60 on Jan. 16, 2012

Key players: Maine — 6-3 F Sam Baranowski (9.5 ppg, 5.2 rpg, .500 FG pct.), 5-9 G Ashleigh Roberts (7.6 ppg, 3.7 rpg), 5-7 G Brittany Williams (7.9 ppg, 1.3 apg, 1.0 spg), 5-6 G Courtney Anderson (5.0 ppg, 3.0 apg), 5-10 G/F Becca Knight (5.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.5 apg), 6-1 F Danielle Walczak (5.1 ppg, 4.5 rpg); Vermont — 6-1 G Kayla Burchill (8.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg), 5-10 G Tierra Schumpert (7.3 ppg), 6-0 F Nikki Taylor (7.3 ppg, 6.9 rpg), 5-8 G Sam Simononis (7.2 ppg, 3.0 rpg), 5-10 G Shanai Heber (6.9 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 3.8 apg, 2.3 spg)

Outlook: This game likely will decide whether UMaine advances to the AE quarterfinals or competes in the first-round game for the fifth-straight year. The Bears, who have dropped the last four, continue to hurt themselves with turnovers. Vermont has lost five in a row and nine of 10 since junior Lauren Buschmann went down with a season-ending knee injury on Jan. 14. UMaine is coming off Wednesday’s 59-40 loss to Hartford, while UVM lost 59-56 to second-place Albany. Baranowski should be better after playing only 13 minutes Wednesday with flu symptoms. The Bears’ ability to limit turnovers and rebound well against a low-scoring UVM team will be keys.
