LEWISTON, Maine — Three fighters out of Young’s MMA gymnasium in Brewer will be among the headliners for Saturday night’s Fight Night 1 mixed martial arts card at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
Ryan Sanders of Veazie will be featured in the professional main event, while Ray “All Business” Wood of Bucksport and Zackary Adams of Bangor will compete in amateur matches.
Twenty bouts — eight professional and 12 amateur — are scheduled on the card. Action begins at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $25.
Sanders, 2-0 in his pro career, is considered an up-and-comer among Northeast MMA competitors. He will battle veteran Dan Keefe (7-2) in a welterweight (170-pound) bout.
Wood, a former wrestling standout at Bucksport High School, will put his 3-0 amateur record on the line against Ahsan Abdulla (3-2). Abdulla is the fourth choice to take on Wood, with three previous opponents pulling out during the weeks leading up to the card due to injury.
Wood normally fights at 145 pounds, but will step up to 155 for this bout to accommodate the late-signing Abdulla, said Chris Young of Young’s MMA.
Wood currently is ranked fourth among New England fighters at 145 pounds, according to NortheastMMA.net.
Adams will be making his amateur debut in a 155-pound bout against Jason Libby (2-1).
