Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office probing Newcastle store burglary

NEWCASTLE, Maine — The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a

burglary that occurred early Tuesday morning at a store in Newcastle.

The burglary happened about 1 a.m., when an alarm went off at Mike’s Place on Route 1, Lt. Michael J. Murphy said Tuesday afternoon in a news release seeking assistance from the public.

When personnel from the sheriff’s department arrived, they discovered someone had smashed the front glass door of the business and stole the cash register as well as several cartons of various brands of cigarettes.

The suspects fled before deputies arrived, Murphy said.
