BATH, Maine — Mark Watrous, the man sought by police in Bath for questioning in connection with an apparent fatal drug overdose of another man, was arrested Wednesday night.

Acting on an anonymous tip, Bath Patrol Officer Jason Aucoin found Watrous at 8:14 p.m. at a residence in Maritime Apartments, which is located on Windjammer Way in Bath. Watrous was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in court for an operating after habitual offender revocation of his license.

According to a press release, Bath detectives obtained a statement from Watrous on the subject of the death of 35-year-old Sean Duffy, who was found dead of an apparent drug overdose on Saturday in a room at the Bath Hampton Inn. Watrous is believed to be one of the last people who saw Duffy alive.

Watrous was unable to post $750 cash bail on Wednesday and was taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

The investigation into Duffy’s death continues. Police said evidence found in the hotel room indicated that Duffy died from taking too many illegally obtained prescription drugs but the chief medical examiner is conducting toxicology tests to confirm that.
