BANGOR – Rita Mae (Seekins) Youngs, 92, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. She was born June 23, 1919, in Hartland, the daughter of John F. and Stella A. Seekins.

Rita graduated from Skowhegan High School at the age of 16 and from Beal Business College, Bangor, at the age of 17. Rita married Frederick L. Youngs of Bangor, July 17, 1941. She and her husband owned and operated Youngs Photo Service of Brewer, Youngs Camera Center of Bangor, and Youngs Ceramics of Brewer and Bangor. For 40 years Rita worked with Frederick taking and delivering photos at the Bangor and Skowhegan raceways. After their retirement, Rita and Frederick traveled in their motor home during the winters to Florida and Nevada. She loved traveling, painting, doing needlepoint and having her family visit her.

Rita was predeceased by her husband, Frederick L. Youngs; and her oldest son, Jay A. Youngs. Rita is survived by three children and their spouses, Toby and Ellen Youngs of The Villages, Fla., and their children, Karen, Julie, Debra and Christian; Scott and Barbara Youngs of Orrington and their children, Kelly, Craig and Michelle; and Penny and Michael Rice of Holden and their children, Patrick, Kimberly and Joseph; and the children of Jay Youngs, Jodi and Janna. Rita is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.

A summer graveside burial for Rita is planned for June or July at Mount Hope Cemetery.
