SALEM, Mass. — Curry College went on a 16-3 scoring run during the last five-plus minutes on Friday, rallying for a 66-65 men’s basketball victory over Colby College in the Salem State Invitational.
The Mules (3-7) went only 13-for-30 from the foul line, including two misses with eight seconds left that led to two free throws by Sedale Jones (24 points) to give Curry (3-6) the margin of victory.
Lambros Papalambros scored 14 points for the Colonels.
Ben Foreman tossed in 24 points to lead Colby College of Waterville, whiel Eric Beaulieu and Shane Rogers added nine points each.
Brandeis 86, Bates 82
At Waltham, Mass., Ben Bartoldus’ 23-point effort helped the Judges hold off the Bobcats.
Vytas Kriskus tossed in 17 points, Youri Dascy netted 15 and Derek Retos added 11 for Brandeis (6-5).
Ed Bogdanovich and Mark Brust tallied 15 points each to pace 5-4 Bates College of Lewiston. John Squires and Luke Matarazzo scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Bowdoin 90, Rivier 66
At Thousand Oaks, Calif., Jill Henrikson scored a game-high 20 points as Bowdoin won its opening game at the Posada Royale Holiday Classic tournament hosted by Cal-Lutheran.
Henrikson also had seven rebounds and five assists for the 7-2 Polar Bears, while Alexa Barry had 17 points and six rebounds, Kaitlin Donahoe had 15 points, seven assists and four steals and Amy Hackett contributed 12 points, six rebounds and six assists.
Amanda Purcell led 6-4 Rivier with 18 points.
Southern Maine 78, MCLA 75
At Gorham, Haley Jordan scored 27 points and Courtney Cochran scored 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as the University of Southern Maine topped Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
Nicole Garland added 16 points for the 7-3 Huskies.
Alie Dobrovic paced 5-5 MCLA with 19 points, while Jen Wehner had 18 points and 11 rebounds.
