AUGUSTA, Maine — The head of Maine’s Gambling Control Board is looking for more staffing now that gaming is expanding in the state.
A new casino under construction in western Maine is scheduled to open in June, and voters have approved the addition of table games at Hollywood Slots in Bangor. Both will be on the agenda when the board meets Tuesday.
Executive Director Patrick Fleming will discuss suggestions for increased staffing for the gambling oversight agency because of the planned opening of the Oxford casino table games at Hollywood Slots, which were authorized by voters in November.
Fleming has been developing standards for surveillance over table games, how the money is handled and how it’s accounted for.
