BANGOR, Maine — A Troy man was sent to jail Monday night after he failed to turn over all of the items he took from Spencer’s Gifts at the Bangor Mall, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Tuesday.

Police went to the store around 5:40 p.m. and found Edward McGuire, 20, with a number of items on his person that he turned over, the sergeant said.

When the officer asked whether he had any other stolen items, “he lied and had this shot glass on him” and was arrested, Edwards said.

McGuire, who was charged with theft, allegedly stole $26 worth of merchandise. He was taken to the Penobsoct County Jail and later was released, a jail official said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
