BANGOR, Maine — An intoxicated Eddington man drinking at Barnaby’s on Saturday night went to jail after he refused to listen to the advice of his mother, Bangor police Lt. Tom Reagan said Sunday.

Zachary Cronkite, 25, was arrested in his hotel room at the Ramada Inn and faces three charges, the lieutenant said.

“They threw him out of the bar” for disorderly conduct and “20 minutes later they went up to a fight in his room,” Reagan said of police at the bar working a security detail.

A fight apparently broke out between friends in Cronkite’s room and he jumped into the middle and was charged with assault and disorderly conduct, the lieutenant said. A third charge of refusing to submit to arrest was tacked on after Cronkite refused to listen to police and became combative. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail and later released.

“His mother tried to keep him from going to jail — telling him to ‘shut up’ — but he didn’t listen to Mommy,” Reagan said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
