Poirier leads UM-Augusta women past UMPI


AUGUSTA — Katie Poirier nailed 11 of 12 shots from the field and finished with 29 points to lead the University of Maine-Augusta to a 66-57 women’s basketball victory over UM-Presque Isle Thursday night.
Poirier also grabbed 15 rebounds while Jenn Lola chipped in with 22 points and Ashley Peaslee recorded nine assists.
Renee Moore scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead 1-6 UMPI. Rashell Saucier and Olivia McNally each chipped in with 11 points.

Bowdoin 66, Bates 66
At Brunswick, Jill Henrikson and Ellery Gould combined for 40 points as Bowdoin used a strong second half to take the victory.
Henrikson netted 22 points on a 7-for-11 effort from the field while Gould buried four 3-pointers en route to 18 points for 5-2 Bowdoin. Kaitlin Donahoe chipped in with 13 points and six assists.
Allie Beaulieu paced 5-2 Bates with 13 points and Annie Burns chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds. Meredith Kelley added 12 points and six rebounds.

Men’s basketball
UMA 67, UMPI 52
At Augusta, David Prior scored 24 points and the University of Maine-Augusta outscored UM-Presque Isle 42-26 in the second half after trailing by one at the end of the first half to take the victory.
Leonel Familia chipped in with 22 points and 13 rebounds for 5-12 UMA.
Patrick Manifold paced 2-4 UMPI with 14 points and Kyle Corrigan contributed 10 points and seven assists. Brad Trask and Michael Warner each added nine points.
