BANGOR, Maine — The Westbrook man who was arrested by Bangor police Sunday night after running through Kmart had fled southern Maine after a robbery last month, according to police.

Sean Latham, 25, was wanted by police in connection with a robbery of the Big Apple store on Main Street in Westbrook.

Westbrook police Det. Daniel Violette told the Bangor Daily News on Tuesday that when Latham held up the Big Apple “he led the clerk to believe he had a gun.”

Authorities in southern Maine learned that Latham had fled to Bangor, and Violette contacted Bangor police.

When Latham learned he had been spotted in the Bangor Kmart, he ran through an emergency exit door, setting off alarms, and was quickly captured in the parking lot.

Latham was taken to the Penobscot County Jail before officers from Westbrook arrived to take him to the Cumberland County Jail to face the robbery charge.
