MILFORD, Maine — A Greenbush man was arrested last week on two drug charges, one of them a felony, after showing up in Milford to help a woman get her vehicle home after she was pulled over and charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license.
Brian Hamel, 25, “appeared to be under the influence” of an intoxicant when he arrived, around midnight last Thursday night, according to Deputy Steve Saucier of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department.
A subsequent search reportedly turned up 56 30-milligram Oxycontin tablets as well as a usable amount of marijuana.
“Deputy [Daren] Mason and I were quite surprised that someone would show up with [drugs] knowing we would be there,” Saucier said.
Because Hamel did not have a prescription for the pills or a medical marijuana card allowing him to possess cannabis, he was arrested on a charge of illegal possession of a scheduled drug, a Class C felony, and for possession of a usable amount of marijuana.
