‘Facebook for Seniors’ on tap at Bangor Public Library

BANGOR, Maine — The Bangor Public Library will hold a training session Wednesday, Nov. 16, to teach senior citizens how to use the popular website Facebook.

“Facebook for Seniors,” which will run from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m., will be the inaugural event for the library’s new Computer Learning Lab and Information Commons, which was financed through part of a statewide Broadband Technology Opportunity Program, or BTOP, grant. Patrick Therrien, technology and education specialist for the Maine Public Library Information Commons Project, will lead the training session.

The learning lab and information commons will be used to teach groups and individuals how to use common software and online services.

Those interested in learning to use Facebook may register by calling the library at 947-8336, or by visiting www.bpl.lib.me.us. Registration is free, but space is limited.
