Presque Isle girls soccer team gains berth in regional final

Presque Isle's Kayla Richards shots the game-winner past Oceanside goalkeeper Kennadi Grover with 9:05 left in overtime to send Presque Isle to a 2-1 victory in an Eastern Maine Class B semifinal Saturday.

PRESQUE ISLE — Kayla Richards scored a goal 5:56 into overtime to lift top-seeded Presque Isle past fourth-seeded Oceanside of Rockland 2-1 in an Eastern Maine Class B girls soccer semifinal Saturday.
Shea Brown notched Presque Isle’s first goal 18 minutes into the game on an assist from Karlee Bernier. Meredith Stewart and Liza Buck combined for nine saves on 10 shots.
Rosemary McGeady tied the game for Oceanside (11-3-2) with 9:43 left in regulation. Kennadi Grover made 12 saves on 16 shots.
Presque Isle, now 14-1-1, will host No. 2 Hermon for the regional title on Wednesday.
