AUGUSTA, Maine — Gov. Paul LePage said the high cost of doing business is hindering job creation in Maine.
To make Maine a more business-friendly state, LePage said high energy prices must be reined in and the state’s regulatory framework has to be streamlined.
He said the state also must do a better job of training students for today’s jobs.
LePage said recent announcements of job cuts at Verso Paper in Bucksport, Barber Foods in Portland and Lowe’s stores in Biddeford and Ellsworth are a blow, but that he’s encouraged by what he’s hearing from business leaders.
