AUGUSTA, Maine — Gov. Paul LePage is opening up the governor’s mansion to help people put food on their tables during the holiday season.

LePage is inviting members of the public who bring nonperishable food items to the Blaine House from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The food will be donated to local homeless shelters.

Visitors will be given a tour of the Blaine House and offered coffee and treats.

LePage will be holding two more open houses, on Oct. 29 and Nov. 5, to encourage food donations to those in need.
