Man shot dead by police in Farmingdale after reports of firing weapon at others

FARMINGDALE, Maine — Maine State Police say troopers shot and killed a man in Farmingdale after an incident in which the man went into a house and fired a weapon at people inside.

Maine Today Media says Saturday night’s incident is being investigated by the state attorney general’s office.

Spokesman Stephen McCausland of the state Public Safety Department says the man had been invited early Saturday evening into a home on Bowman Street where he started shooting at the people inside. The homeowners fled the house and called police.

The man emerged from the home at about 8:30 p.m. and was shot and killed by police.

The man’s identity was not available Sunday.
