ELLSWORTH, Maine — Electrical power to more than 1,000 people in the Blue Hill area was knocked out for a short while Thursday morning after a tree fell on a transformer and disrupted service, according to a statement from Bangor Hydro-Electric Co.

The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. and it took little time for Bangor Hydro crews to find the cause of the outage. According to the company, 1,007 customers lost power for about half an hour.

The weather at the time of the incident was rainy with light winds of less than 10 mph.
