PORTLAND, Maine — The Republican presidential primary campaign of former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney announced dozens of elected officials from Maine who support his bid to be his party’s candidate for president in 2012.

Among those listed was  Attorney General William Schneider who was quoted as saying, “Governor Romney understands what this country is facing. He has spent his life turning failing businesses, including the 2002 Winter Olympics, into successful enterprises, and as governor, he balanced the budget without raising taxes. That is the kind of leadership we need to restore America’s greatness.”

Also listed were Peter Cianchette, a former gubernatorial candidate and U.S. ambassador; former Rep. David Emery; Josh Tardy, a former House Republican leader; Rick Bennett, a former state Senate president; and Bangor attorney Timothy Woodcock,  a former Republican candidate for Congress.

A full list can be found here.

“It’s an honor to receive the support of so many leaders in Maine,” Romney was quoted as saying in the release. “Our country is in need of a turnaround and I am excited to work with these great leaders to put America back on the path to prosperity.”
