SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Seven different players scored touchdowns as the Springfield College football team defeated Husson University 63-19 at Amos Alonzo Stagg Field Saturday.
Senior quarterback Josh Carter led the Pride with 106 yards rushing and two touchdowns. He ran for TDs of 10 and 20 yards. His TD passes were of 34 and 34 yards.
It was 28-0 after one quarter, 42-6 at the half, and 56-19 after three quarters.
The 2-0 Pride rolled up 561 yards of total offense, compared to 243 for the Eagles of Bangor.
For 0-2 Husson, the leading rusher was junior running back Byron Jackson with 35 yards on seven carries. Junior quarterback Kash Keezer of Veazie completed 15 of 34 passes for 225 yards and two TDs. He was also intercepted three times and was sacked four times. Freshman wide receiver Lamar Richards caught seven passes for 76 yards.
Husson was led defensively by freshman linebacker Stephan Dance with a game-high 12 tackles, including nine solos. Sophomore linebacker Ben Dalecki of South Berwick finished with eight tackles, followed by senior lineman Chris Dalecki of South Berwick with seven stops.
