WINTERPORT, Maine — An afternoon of indulgence featuring a feast for the senses, as well as a chance to bring home a new feline friend, is one focus of an event Saturday at Silver Willow Gallery, located at 115 Main St.
Set for 1-6 p.m., the event will serve not only as an opening celebration for the gallery but also as a showcase for local artisans and businesses and a fundraiser for Forgotten Felines, a nonprofit organization serving eastern Maine.
The event will kick off with a wine tasting by Winterport Winery and feature music by Maximum Blue, Koostix and Ivey Menzetti, thanks to My Thrill Studio, and a poetry reading and book signing by local author Tom Lyford.
Other things to enjoy will include a makeover, quick massage, cupcakes, make-your-own earrings and door prizes. Gallery artisans will be on hand to discuss their mediums and work as well. A raffle will be held to benefit Forgotten Felines and donations of cat supplies are welcome.
Forgotten Felines founder Pam Hansberry of Main-ly Cats in Stockton Springs will be on hand with some cats in need of homes.
Forgotten Felines is dedicated to educating the public about feral, stray, homeless and abandoned cats. Among other things, the group provides information on the care of feral cats, helps provide access to low-cost spay and neuter services and helps place adoptable cats in loving homes.
The gallery in Winterport carries the works of artisans from across Maine and includes paintings, photographs, cards, quilts, glass work, pottery, jewelry, soap, birdhouses and more.
