ORRINGTON – Earle L. Aucoin, 87, died Aug. 17, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. Earle was born Nov. 7, 1923, in Bangor, the son of Eyves and Claudia (Willette) Aucoin.
Earle was a graduate of John Bapst High School, class of 1940, and a graduate of Maine School of Commerce, class of 1942. Earle served in the Submarine Service of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He then worked for many years in sales, retiring in 1983. Earle enjoyed the outdoors, bowling, and spending time with family. He was a tireless volunteer at Cole Land Transportation Museum where he worked with children in the veterans program. He was a faithful communicant of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Brewer, a member of the U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War II, and a former selectman for the town of Orrington.
Earle was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Merita, in 1998; and two sisters, Claire Bruss and Gloria Pesch. Earle is survived by his sons, Philip and wife, Kathy, Paul and wife, Linda, Peter, and Thomas and wife, Debbie; daughters, Susanne Soucie and husband, Jim, Nancy Crotty and husband, Steve, and Mary Roach and husband, John; a brother, Donald; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, South Main Street, Brewer. At the conclusion of the Mass, all are invited to the Parish Center for light refreshments and fellowship. At the family’s request, interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cole Land Transportation Museum Scholarship Fund in Memory of Earle L. Aucoin, 405 Perry Road, Bangor, ME 04401.
