Dixmont talk on financial planning

DIXMONT, Maine — “Financial Planning for the 21st Century,” a public community educational program, will be presented at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the Louis I. Bussey Schoolhouse, 994 Western Avenue in Dixmont. Guest speaker will be James Clifford, owner of North Point Financial Services, who specializes in retirement and protection planning. The event is free of charge and is sponsored by the Dixmont United Methodist Church. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 234-2271.

Historic Town House to hold unveiling ceremony in Dixmont

DIXMONT, Maine — An unveiling ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at the historic Dixmont Town House, 702 Western Avenue in Dixmont.

A historic marker recently was provided and installed at the Dixmont Town House by Central Maine Power Co. The Dixmont Historical Society invites the public to attend the ceremonies. Refreshments will be served. The Town House will be open to view the work that has been done to save the historic building, and members of the Historical Society Committee will be on hand to discuss future plans. Fourth Bangor Walk to Defeat ALS set for Aug. 27

BANGOR, Maine — The fourth annual Bangor Walk to Defeat ALS will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Hayford Park, 13th Street in Bangor.

Walk organizers hope to reach a goal of 400 walkers collecting a total of $100,000. Registration on the day of the walk begins at 8 a.m. The walk will start at 10 a.m. For more information, call 862-3182 or visit www.walktodeatals.org.
