BANGOR — Green Acres Kennel’s first calendar showcases its recent photo and art contest. The calendar is $16 and profits benefit Eastern Area Agency on Aging Furry Friends Food Bank. BELFAST — Bowenfest, a motorcycle fundraiser in honor of Greg Bowen, who has bone cancer, begins with registration 8 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 6, at Bowen’s Tavern on the corner of routes 137 and 7. The 100-mile ride to Newport and back starts at 10 a.m. The event features a pig roast, music by Papr Street and auction items. The cost is $20 per bike. Nonriders are welcome. This year’s ride benefits 10-year-old Brad Jo Pinkerton of Frankfort who has been diagnosed with leukemia.

BUCKSPORT — Elm Street Congregational Church “Mostly for Fun” Trombone Concert, 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at the church. Admission is $8 adults, $3 students. Proceeds benefit the historic Hook Organ Fund to maintain the E. & G.G. Hook Organ installed in the church in 1863.

BLUE HILL — Peninsula Metamorhic Arts and Learning presents two nights of Women’s Film Institute Shorts Tour, 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, and Thursday, Aug. 4. Tickets are $10. CHARLESTON — WhiteTail Golf Course fifth Relay for Life Golf Tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society. Proceeds will support Mike Trafton’s Relay For Life team. The 4-player scramble begins with shotgun starts at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at WhiteTail. The $30 cost includes lunch. Entertainment provided by the Fletcher’s Landing Philharmonic Orchestra directed by Michael Povich. ORLAND — The Cancer Support Center of Maine in Bucksport 3rd annual barbecue, 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at Alamoosook Lakeside Inn, 229 Soper Road. The Center’s mission is to assist Maine women and men, and their loved ones, who are confronting cancer, and helping empower communities through outreach and education about cancer risk reduction.
