Fire destroys camp in Prentiss

PRENTISS, Maine — Firefighters from Kingman and Springfield are responding to a camp fire in Prentiss that was reported just before 11 a.m., a dispatcher at the Penobscot Regional Communications Center said.

The first firefighters to arrive reported that only the frame of the burned building remained, the dispatcher said.

“It was a total loss,” she said.

Prentiss is a small, remote community located just east of both Kingman and Springfield, about halfway between the two communities.
